Earlier this week, we told you that IBM’s super-duper supercomputer Watson might one day be able to treat cancer patients by analyzing their genes (something Ken Jennings can never hope to accomplish, sadly). But that’s the possible future, and who cares about that? Let’s focus on what we know Watson is capable of: kicking human butt on Jeopardy.
Back in 2011 (which maybe doesn’t sound so long ago, but I can barely remember what I had for breakfast this morning so it’s essentially the distant past), Watson went up against Jeopardy champs Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter in a championship match that will go down in history as the first time we dared attempt to defy our machine overlords. Aired over three days, Jennings, Rutter, and Watson competed in two full matches that you can re-live right here.
No spoilers, but you might want to grab a drink.
