A 16-year-old boy hopped the fence at Mineta San Jose International Airport and jumped into the wheel well—where the landing gear is stored during flight—of a Hawaiian Airlines jet heading to Kahului Airport in Maui. He spent hours at high altitude, low temperatures, and thin air, but luckily he survived.
The unnamed boy reportedly started his adventure when he ran away from home after an argument, and after landing was medically screened and found to be surprisingly okay.
Even though this kid survived, other people have tried this and died. One dead man even made seven trips in the wheel well of a plane before the crew found him in there.
