Maker Faire is an event that focuses on technology, science, and building. They’re held around the country, sort of like Comic Con, but for a slightly different breed of geek. They’ve been going on since 2006, and today is the White House’s first time hosting one. President Obama even declared today a “National Day of Making” (you can read the full Presidential Proclamation here.)
So if you’ve been putting off building that robot butler you’ve always wanted, today’s a great day to start!
- We visited Maker Faire New York last year. Check out our gallery
- We also got hands-on with the tiny BeagleBone Black computer (a favorite for Makers)
- At Maker Faire we tested out the Goal Zero Nomad 7 solar charger
