You know how Apple’s Health app can give you your “whole health picture” except it refuses to track your period, because ewww cooties??? Fortunately for those of us who menstruate, Walgreens and Glow – a data science company for women’s reproductive health and education – have partnered to create an app that can help you track your sadface days and refill your birth control prescription.
The Period Tracker & Women’s Fertility Health Log by Glow is available on both iOS and Android devices, and allows you to input a bunch of your health information, like whether or not you’re trying to get pregnant or actively avoiding fostering a small parasite inside your uterus. If the latter is the case, then you can enter your chosen method of birth control (including condom, bill, IUD, and “withdrawal,” which is not a reliable method of birth control just FYI), and the app will track your period for you.
Additionally, if you tell the app you’re on the pill, you can add your refill information for your local Walgreens or Duane Reade. When you’re running low, the app will remind you it’s refill time, and you can request a refill directly through the app.
Glow VP Jennifer Tye said that this app “will make it easier for [people] to manage their reproductive health and family planning,” and that it “empowers users to take control of their reproductive health.” Tye goes on to say that Glow believes everyone “should have access to information and insights about their bodies and their health in every phase of their life,” and we can’t help but agree. Sorry, Apple, but we don’t need you anyway.
