We interrupt our weeping over Michelle MacLaren’s departure from Wonder Woman for some good news! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel’s first-ever female-led superhero movie is lining up some incredible talent.
Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy co-writer and the first female writer for a Marvel Studios’ movie ever) and Meg LeFauve, co-writer of Pixar’s upcoming Inside Out, are reportedly being courted to write the script as a team; THR explains that “both impressed Marvel’s Mr. Fantastic, Kevin Feige, with their separate takes; Feige and his team thought it best to combine the two for sensational results results […] Marvel also made an effort to find female screenwriters to tackle the heroine.”
Considering Perlman’s passion for Marvel’s female characters (in addition to her work on Guardians, she’s also writing a Gamora comic and has developed a treatment for a possible Black Widow movie), it’s incredibly exciting that Marvel is giving her another opportunity and a rad lady to collaborate with–judging from what we’ve seen so far of Inside Out, LeFauve knows a thing or two about writing realistic female characters.
What do you think, friends? Would you be excited to see Perlman and LeFauve team up for Captain Marvel? And how awesome would it be if Hollywood finally had the female equivalent of dynamic, sought-after duos like Phil Lord and Chris Miller?
