In June, AMC began production on a television version of The Walking Dead, an esteemed comic book created by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The comic (and now television series) follows police officer Rick Grimes as he attempts to survive a zombie apocalypse.
AMC assembled an all-star team to make the transition from comics to television. Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile) will write, direct and produce the series. Gale Ann Hurd (The Terminator, Aliens, Armageddon, The Incredible Hulk), Charles Eglee (Dexter, The Shield, Dark Angel) and David Alpert will serve as Executive Producers, while Jack LoGuidice (Sons of Anarchy, Resurrection Blvd) will fill in as Co-Executive Producer. Andrew Lincoln (Love Actually) will play leader character Rick while Sarah Wayne Callies (Prison Break) will play his wife, Lori Grimes.
The six-part season one premieres October 2010 during AMC’s yearly Fearfest horror marathon. Check out the trailer below:
