If you’re reading this, it’s too late. Degrassi is ending.
After 14 seasons, countless alumni, a few TV stars, and one rapper who would like to remind you to just hold on we’re going home, Degrassi Community School is shutting its doors for good. In a statement to Variety, executive producer Stephen Stohn said:
Few producers are as blessed as we have been, working with so many talented and creative individuals at TeenNick for 14 seasons of Degrassi; including 385 episodes and over 100 pieces of original short-form web content. We thank all those at TeenNick who have worked so hard over the years to help us create a television series that changes with the times and continues to authentically connect and interact with the youth audience.
It sucks to see such a longstanding show end, especially one that happened to resonate with so many teenagers and young adults. The show started from the bottom, now it’s here. Still, somehow, the network felt like it needed to shut it down. Some of the stories and episodes will be the best I ever had. Degrassi, now & forever.
The final episode is set to air July 31st, preceded by a new episode every day starting on July 20th. Tune in, and if you need me, I’ll be runnin’ through the six with my woes.
