Not too long ago, we reported that The Simpsons‘ Homer and Marge were calling it quits, and were headed for a legal separation in the show. The couple has responded in a video (uh) posted to Fox’s Animation Domination YouTube page (uhh), clearing the air about them separating once and for all (uhhh).
Let’s be honest, though. As The Verge and our very own Carolyn so excellently point out:
Homer files for divorce in the Season 8 episode “Millhouse Divided” but remarries Marge at the end of the episode, a marriage that was determined in Season 20’s “Wedding for Disaster” to have been unofficial. In other words, the pair were technically unmarried for 12 seasons.
Of course, of course. We totally knew that.
This is the age we live in, folks. One of televisions’ most famous cartoon couples deals with rumors of their relationship’s demise through the magic and the power of the internet. The future is now.
