Fannibals have been scrambling to save Hannibal following the series’ untimely cancellation last month, but Deadline reports that the show’s possible future may now be further imperiled by contract changes.
Hannibal stars Hugh Dancy and Mads Mikkelsen are reportedly no longer under contract; Deadline writes that the pair are “free agents, and they are already fielding film and TV offers. Their options expired last night and were not extended by Hannibal producer Gaumont International Television.”
However, talks with potential distributors are ongoing, and Deadline also reports that “if the show gets a new season elsewhere and the two are still available, I hear both love the show and have indicated that they would like to reprise their roles.”
Hopefully Bryan Fuller’s #SaveHannibal fan campaign and the Change.org petition for another season of the show can help convince Amazon or a competitor to come to the rescue—and if nothing else, at least we have American Gods to look forward to.
