Joss Whedon did what Whedon does and held court in Hall H this year. Deadline’s report compared the event to something like an evangelical pastor giving a sermon. Judging by Whedon’s cult following and strong fanbase, that sounds accurate. He talked about a bunch of different things, ranging from Firefly, the meaning of life, Dr. Horrible 2, and Twist, the “Victorian female Batman” comic he’s currently working on. Okay. Color us super intrigued.

On Firefly, Whedon kept it short. He said, “In a world where Firefly came back… that group, what they go through is something that will fascinate me forever. Put those nine people back on that ship and I don’t need anybody else.” Spoken like a true captain, there. The vibe was pretty much letting people know to not expect anything.

When it comes to Dr. Horrible 2, he said that everybody involved wants to go for it; it’s just that they’re all so darn busy. As a contrast, now that he’s let go of the Avengers, he’s pretty much considered himself “unemployed.” Fair enough! But he is actually working on something new: Twist, a brand new comic book that addresses the amoral question that’s been facing us: Why isn’t there a Victorian female Batman?”

If creating a new comic book, wrangling people to begin production for a movie, and giving incredible geek sermons at Comic-Con is what you consider “unemployed,” then please: stay “unemployed” longer. Especially if it means you get Twist out faster.
