We last saw Bucky at the end of Winter Soldier riding off into the sunset sneaking away, but with the next installment of Captain America on the way in Civil War, his return was kind of inevitable. Joining our Avenging-already-in-progress after the Ant-Man credits, Cap and Falcon are surveying Bucky while he’s trapped by his vibranium arm in … something, but it’s not entirely clear how he got there—and that’s not an accident.
Speaking to BuzzFeed, Sebastian Stan said, “I think [what Bucky was caught in was] more of a vise, but it would never happen at his own hand—by his own doing.”
Not by his own hand, you say? Well of course not! That’s not his original arm!

In terms of that scene in Ant-Man, I’ve seen some of the ideas people have about it and I would just say that whatever you’re seeing on the surface, it’s not as obvious as that. There might be a whole lot more to the scene. I would say someone would probably want to put him in a vise.
Hmmmmm. Curiouser and curiouser. If I had to guess, I’d say it was an intentional trap on the part of those trying to hunt down unlicensed superheroes in Civil War, but that sounds too “on the surface,” so Stan’s piqued my interest. What about the rest of you? Any alternate theories?
