Fans of the Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso comic 100 Bullets (Vertigo) have reason to be pumped! New Line is going to be doing a film adaptation of the crime comic, and Mad Max: Fury Road‘s Tom Hardy is producing with an eye on starring in the film.
For those who don’t know, 100 Bullets tells the story of Agent Graves, a mysterious dude who presents different people with a gun, the name of the person who ruined their lives, and 100 rounds of untraceable ammunition. We don’t know why he does what he does, but he’s constantly setting up recipes for revenge. The story was told in 100 issues between 1999-2009 and earned a bunch of Harvey and Eisner awards.
Now, writer Chris Borrelli has written a script, and Hardy is producing with Dean Baker via their production company, Hardy Son & Baker. New Line absorbed production and development of Vertigo properties back in June, so in addition to 100 Bullets, they’re also overseeing Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Sandman adaptation (even though that deal started at Warner Bros.). However, 100 Bullets is the first Vertigo property they’re tackling completely on their own, and they couldn’t have picked one that was more hardcore!
What do you think? Are you excited by the prospect of a 100 Bullets film? Feel free to nerd out and get into fantasy casting below!
