The RED films are awesome, action-y fun (based on the Warren Ellis comic) that, much like Constance Tillet in my previous post today, remind me that you’re never too old to whoop some serious ass. They give me hope that I, too, may one day grow up to look flawless like Helen Mirren and wield machine guns with abandon. I have high hopes!
Who am I kidding? I don’t look flawless like Helen Mirren in my thirties. In any case, NBC is doing an adaptation of RED based on the film franchise, and the film’s creative team is all aboard! Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber, who wrote the 2010 hit and its 2013 sequel will be writing the show, and Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian, who produced both movies, will be producing along with Lionsgate TV. According to Deadline Hollywood:
The TV series version will retain the core concept of the films but will be set in a more grounded and authentic world, focusing on the characters’ darkly hilarious struggles to survive civilian life as they simultaneously fight for and against the very organization that threw them out.
