If you loved the world of Snowpiercer and hoped to learn more about its mysteries, you’re in luck, because Bong Joon-Ho’s film will soon receive a TV adaptation. Josh Friedman of Sarah Connor Chronicles has been tapped to pen the series, with Bong Joon-Ho still on board as one of several executive producers. Friedman told The Hollywood Reporter,
I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity. Marty and Becky are the perfect partners to help me bring this world to TV. I’m a huge fan of director Bong’s films, especially Snowpiercer. It’s great the way the best sci-fi is great — thoughtful, political, funny, scary and sly. And it’s on a train. A big f—ing train. What more could you want?
It’s not made clear whether or not any of the original film’s stars — such as Tilda Swinton and Chris Evans — will join the cast of the show, nor is it clear whether the show will take place before, after, or during the events of the film. All we know so far is that it’ll be more story told within the world of Snowpiercer, and that it’ll probably take place aboard the train just like the movie did, given Friedman’s quote above.
What do you hope this show will be like? Any characters you’d like to learn more about?
