Whether you’re old like me, and you totally remember when these shows were on, or you’re a millennial for whom the 1990s are “retro,” today is a great day! Hulu has just signed a multi-year deal with Sony, which means that ’90s hit shows like Dawson’s Creek and Party of Five will be available on the streaming service. Bust out your slap bracelets, and get ready to go back to the Creek!
Hulu announced the deal during the Television Critics Association press tour, and along with Dawson’s Creek and Party of Five, they will also be streaming The Shield and Damages, as well as ’90s films like Jerry Maguire and My Best Friend’s Wedding in addition to newer Sony offerings like Midnight in Paris, among others.
According to Variety, Hulu’s not being shy about appealing to ’90s nostalgia:
At TCA, press members received fanny packs full of ’80s and ’90s swag, including wrist slappers, ring pops and mood rings to promote the nostalgic programming heading to the platform under the Sony deal.
I’m excited to relive Jen’s arrival at the Creek, Dawson’s horrible film shoots, Joey’s endearingly bad rendition of “On My Own,” Pacey’s affair with Ms. Jacobs, and Jack coming out to his dad! I never was much into Party of Five myself …
Which ’90s show are you most excited about, and which show isn’t available anywhere that you think should be? Tell us in the comments below!
