Girl Meets World star Rowan Blanchard might only be 14, but she’s done and said more to further an awesome and positive message for young fans than many others in a position similar to hers.
She’s talked about how men and women are treated differently by the press and wrote a smart, thoughtful essay on Instagram about intersectional feminism. She recently penned a piece for online magazine Rookie called “Sorry Not Sorry“, about how she’s done “apologizing for existing”, and in a recent Twitter interaction with fans said that she doesn’t want to label herself when it comes to her sexuality:

When a fan tweeted with the hope of maybe seeing Blanchard’s character Riley Matthews come out as bisexual on the show, Blanchard responded positively:

Girl Meets World has been praised for its willingness to tackle important issues and its portrayal of a message of acceptance, addressing the sexuality of its lead character could start an important dialogue. Blanchard is a mature young actress saying a lot of smart things these days, and if a storyline about a queer character (either hers or another’s) ever crops up in Girl Meets World, she could certainly represent it with the care it deserves.
