To be honest, I hadn’t heard much about Star Citizen until I heard about the names attached to the project–Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill, John Rhys-Davies and Gillian Anderson (among many, many other greats). The game, which is going to be available for Microsoft Windows and Linux, has been in development since 2011, but is scheduled for a release date in 2016 that will hopefully be announced soon!

Thanks to the game’s YouTube channel, we’ve gotten a glimpse into some of the behind-the-scenes action–including all of the motion-capture that’s been involved in order to bring this game to life. Anderson admits in the video that she did feel a little ridiculous in the headgear and suit (even comparing it to Sandy the Squirrel from SpongeBob), but adds that the cameras pointed on every aspect of her face definitely gave her focus in the situation.

Anderson is going to be playing Capt. Rachel MacLaren, the daughter of Admiral Bishop (who is being brought to life by Gary Oldman), and director Chris Roberts has described her character as a strong person who runs her own ship called the Gauntlet. Anderson definitely brings the authority needed for the role.

The video doesn’t reveal much from Star Citizen, but there’s some interesting snippets of scenes and dialogue–and you get to watch Gillian Anderson being a boss even in motion-capture. I’m not complaining.
