It’s almost impossible to talk about what makes 10 Cloverfield Lane a worthwhile watch and a remarkable film without spoiling it — so The Mary Sue’s Lesley Coffin decided not to even try.
For those of you who haven’t seen the movie yet and want to remain unaware of the big secrets, check out our spoiler-free post about the movie, including Lesley’s brief list of reasons why the movie’s worth a watch, as well as video interviews with the director and stars – with only mild spoilers within those video interviews. The rest of you: get out of this post, and go see the movie! Then come back and dish with us.
As Lesley explains, 10 Cloverfield Lane isn’t exactly a Cloverfield sequel – it’s more of a spiritual successor, and it’s debatable as to whether the film even takes place in the same universe. But this video is less focused on whether or not this movie is connected to the first Cloverfield movie, and more about the decisions the movie made internally that worked: the music, the lighting, the use of space, and the clever pacing of this psychological thriller.
For those who have seen it, feel free to opine in the comments about your own thoughts on the movie’s decisions. Consider this a 10 Cloverfield Lane spoiler-filled zone, folks!
