DARKNESS. NO PARENTS. … No really, can this Batman movie just skip the part with his parents? After the complete success that was The LEGO Movie, the trailer for its Batman-themed spinoff/sequel is here, and it just might be that Batman movie you’re most looking forward to right now if you’ve seen the Batman v Superman reviews.

In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble—LEGO Batman—stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up.

“Lighten up”? The self-awareness is strong with this one, and the trailer also looks like way more fun than we’ve had watching Batman since … well, since The LEGO Movie. Sadly, we still have to wait until February 10, 2017 to see it, but at least this trailer can be the hero we deserve and the one we need right now.
