The rumors floating around Mass Effect Andromeda have proven to be true: it’s been delayed until 2017. It was originally slated to release later this year, but BioWare has opted to take a little bit more time to wrap up the game. In the announcement, BioWare said that they’re doing so because the game’s scope has definitely ratcheted up, as the game offers “unprecedented levels of freedom.” While it’s a bit of a bummer to think that we’ll have to wait a little longer to get our hands on it, it’s entirely okay considering that they really want to make sure that the latest chapter of the Mass Effect series is just right.
If the leaked gameplay and tech footage we saw last month is any indication, then Andromeda should be pretty darn stunning. I’m personally totally cool with them taking extra time to smooth things out. The delay, after all, may shake out to only be about a few months. You may already know that Andromeda isn’t exactly a direct sequel to Mass Effect 3, but it does play in mostly the same universe (so to speak). I’d be stoked to dive in whenever I can, really. Patience, friend. The wait will (hopefully) be worth it.
