Last Week Tonight was off again last Sunday, which is a shame because this week has been, in the words of the show, “week-ier than usual.” I can’t wait for the show to return next week and dive into the news we’re seeing right now, but in the meantime they’ve shared a web exclusive clip.
Last time, John Oliver read off some delightful fan-mail to engage with his Youtube viewers. This week, he joins celebrities, politicians, and public figures making presidential endorsements with some formal endorsements of his own outside the realm of politics (Oliver also seems very happy casually flaunting his giveaway victory over Oprah). These official endorsements—complete with a John Oliver stamp of approval—includes animals wearing people clothes (but not people wearing animal clothes), interspecies friendships, Gingham shirts with ties that somehow work, and the 1999 air traffic film drama starring John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton Pushing Tin.
What are some non-presidential endorsements you’d make? I’d add animals wearing costumes of other animals to the list. Last Week Tonight returns on Sunday, July 24th.
