In a chat with Entertainment Weekly, Spider-Man: Homecoming director Jon Watts revealed the character names for each of Tom Holland’s co-stars. To be more specific, Watts shared the characters’ first names only, which leaves a bit of ambiguity as to which character they’ll be bringing to life from the Spider-Man universe. That being said, here’s the list: Zendaya plays Michele, which probably refers to Michele Gonzalez, who is believed to be a romantic interest for Parker. Tony Revolori is Flash (as in Thompson), a classic character who’s a notorious bully at Parker’s school. Laura Harrier plays Liz, whose last name is probably Allan, as she’s a character in the original comic books; she’s Thompson’s girlfriend. Finally, Jacob Batalon plays Ned, which probably refers to Ned Leeds, who is a reporter at the Daily Bugle.
The roles still as of yet left unknown are Donald Glover’s and Hannibal Buress‘. Reprising their roles from Civil War (and beyond) are Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Marisa Tomei as Aunt May, and of course, Holland as Peter Parker.
Fans might remember that way back last June, Kevin Feige said Spider-Man: Homecoming would be heavily influenced by the seminal John Hughes high school flick, The Breakfast Club. It seems that we’ve come full circle on that reference, as the cast got together to shoot a photo that’s a direct tribute to the 80s movie, which you can see over on Movies.com. From top, left to right, you’ve got Ned as “the criminal,” Michele as “the basket case,” Peter as “the brain,” Flash as “the jock,” and Liz as “the princess.”
So, gang. Does this get you excited for Spider-Man: Homecoming?
