If you’re looking for shows to watch this fall, comedian Tig Notaro’s One Mississippi should be on your radar. The series is partially autobiographical, based on Notaro experience after the death of her mother.

Here’s the synopsis from Amazon: “A dark comedy, loosely inspired by Tig Notaro’s life, “One Mississippi” follows Tig as she navigates a complex re-entry into her childhood hometown in Mississippi, to deal with the unexpected death of her much loved mother.  Reeling from her own recently declining health, Tig struggles to find her footing with the loss of the one person who actually understood her.”

As a big fan of Notaro’s comedy, the trailer looks like it’s full of her characteristic dark humor, deadpan delivery, and balance between comedy and tragedy. Executive produced by Notaro and Louis C.K., One Mississippi premieres on September 9th. Next to Issa Rae’s HBO show Insecure (airing October 9th) and Pamela Adlon’s Better Things (premiering September) among others, this fall is looking to be full of funny women on television.
