Don’t watch this video of the young stars of Stranger Things improvising lyrics to their show’s theme song until after you’ve finished watching the whole first season of the show, okay? Because their lyrics are going to spoil some stuff. Big stuff.
That’s probably why, after they finish improvising said lyrics, all the kids decide that the theme song for Stranger Things probably shouldn’t have had any words after all. You don’t want to give too much away, you know? It’s great as a spooky instrumental track.
These kids all love to sing, by the way, and some of them have done it professionally. Gaten Matarazzo–who declares his love of singing at the beginning of this video–proved his chops on Broadway playing Gavroche in Les Misérables. Caleb McLaughlin doesn’t toot his own horn about being a big singing fan in this video, but he’s also a Broadway star, having played Young Simba in The Lion King!
Matarazzo and McLaughlin recently got to show off their musical talents at the Emmy Awards this week, and they were joined by fellow Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, who has an incredible singing voice herself (she frequently uploads covers of popular songs to her own personal YouTube channel). The three of them decided to do a cover of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ 2014 hit song “Uptown Funk” on stage at the Emmy’s, and it’s really adorable:

If any comedy musicians want to get together and create a musical parody of Stranger Things, I have a feeling these young cast-members would love to perform in it!
