Netflix just uploaded a short clip that’ll give you all the sitting-in-a-middle-school-science-class feels. In a joke segment called “Real(ish) Science With Bill Nye,” our favorite science man tells us how “getting hooked” will improve our lives—whether its on phonics, a coat hook, or Netflix.
With some very legitimate research and graphs, Bill Nye explains how getting exposed to a new show causes the brain’s “neural pathways to open up and after a certain number of episodes are consumed the brain’s reward center is flooded!” He then goes on to describe some of the great life skills you gain from this, including crushing things with your mind and creating an international drug economy.
It was announced not too long ago that Netflix planned to debut Bill Nye Saves the World in spring of next year, so while there’s no mention of this in the clip it’s definitely got me excited for what’s to come. Judging from the montages, jokes, and earnest cheesiness of the clip, it seems like Netflix is hoping to channel the love Bill Nye fans have for his science classroom videos.
Anyway, time to go binge some Netflix. After all, when has Bill Nye ever led us astray?
