As we approach the release date for the upcoming Wolverine movie Logan, one can expect reports and details to begin marching out of every source from here to Westchester. One of these reports centers around a fairly longstanding rumor that Logan would see the introduction of Laura Kinney, otherwise known as X-23. According to details given to The Wrap by an insider close to the production, the hand shown holding Logan/Wolverine’s hand in the movie’s new billboard belongs to a young girl who, thanks to a government operation called Transigen, became a “killing machine.” The report goes on to say that this young girl also happens to fight with claws, except she has two to Logan’s three.

Sound familiar?

It should be noted that the report doesn’t outright state that it’s Laura Kinney/X-23. This could very well be a different character who just so happens to be based on X-23. Though we’ve been totally shafted by the X-Men franchise’s bait-and-switch before (see: X-Men Origins: Wolverine’s Deadpool), the similarities presented here in the report (plus the implications of the official billboard and screenplay page) seem to point in X-23’s direction.

The report also shared information regarding Professor Xavier, who will be played by Patrick Stewart for the last time here in this movie. Apparently, as Logan isn’t doing too well himself what with the constant self-medicating to fight off chronic pain from his diminished healing factor, so, too, is Professor X having a hard time. It’s said that he doesn’t even remember Logan, and that he’s losing control of his powers.

If all these rumors hold true, then Logan could be shaping up to be one heck of a movie. The stakes are high, as it seems only right that these two main characters and the actors who embodied them get a proper sendoff.
