Lin-Manuel Miranda made his Ellen debut and it’s a delightful, funny treat. Ellen Degeneres invited the host to rap about everyday inconveniences–people not thanking you for holding the door open, squeaky shopping carts, phone updates, and running out of cold water. Miranda, of course, delivered.

Also pure and beautiful is the two of them talking about Miranda’s passion for Hamilton, him doing his best for Hillary, and his occasional mess-ups on stage. In this next clip, the two also talk about his Hamilton journey as well as a family trip to Austria where Miranda’s Sound of Music-loving family reenacted “Do Re Mi” in all the exact locations after his father hired a film crew. “Look at crazy Puerto Rican Maria von Trapp!” he exclaims, pointing at his happy father. It’s impossible not to smile at the short clips we see playing of their family excursion.

And before you go off looking, no, this Sound of Music tribute is not online. But something about knowing it exists makes me a little happier this week.
