I didn’t think it was possible to be more excited than I already am for Black Panther, but then the ethereal Angela Bassett decided to step down from her post on Mount Olympus and grace us with her presence. That’s right, she’s the newest member of the cast and, according to Marvel, she is set to play T’Challa’s mother, Ramonda.

For those who are unaware of why this is a big deal, Basset has appeared in a number of great TV projects like the Tina Turner biopic What’s Love Got to Do With It and American Horror Story. She’s also starred in classic films like Boyz n the Hood, Waiting to Exhale and the modern masterpiece featuring Tom Hardy, Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon, This Means War.

She joins an illustrious cast that includes Chadwick Boseman in the titular role, as well as Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman and possibly Andy Serkis. Oh, some guy named Stan Lee might also appear. Black Panther, directed by Creed and Fruitvale Station’s Ryan Coogler, is slated for release on February 16, 2018.

Like the hashtag says, it’s lit.
