It’s no secret that most of the staff here at The Mary Sue is intrigued by this bizarre Twin Peaks-meets-Pretty Little Liars adaptation of the Archie comics. In true CW fashion, Riverdale promises sex, lies, murder, mystery and gorgeous young rich kids who vaguely look like the color 2D drawn characters many of us grew up with. While previous teasers offered up flashy snippets, this extended preview gives a better look at what to expect from the series which premieres on January 26.

In the video, we’re introduced to a perfect little town where “nothing is as it seems.” The season will center on the murder of Jason Blossom who also happens to be Archie’s rival in the comics. Judging from the little footage released so far, he may end up being one of the suspects of the crime. A few other characters also pop up including Betty, Veronica and Judghead sporting his trademark crown hat.

The show stars K.J. Apa as Archie, Marisol Nichols as Hermione, Cole Sprouse as Jughead, Camila Mendes as Veronica, Lili Reinhart as Betty and Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Jason’s twin sister. Beverly Hills 90210 alum Luke Perry has also been added to the project, along with ’80s teen icon Molly Ringwald. I don’t know about you, but I’m marking my calendar for what is sure to be a stylishly messy ride.
