Amazon has a lot of faith in Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her new series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The streaming service just ordered two seasons of the dramedy based off the pilot which premeired on March 17. To be fair, it was pretty well received.
Taking place in the 1950s, the story follows a woman named Miriam “Midge” Maisel whose perfect life gets flipped, turned upside down when she became the prince of a town called Bel-Air she realizes she’s pretty good at stand-up comedy. No word yet on how many episodes will make up each season, but I’m already here for the premise alone.
“Like any great young stand-up, we’re excited to see what she has to say next and for a long time to come. That made it an easy decision to order two seasons from Amy and her incredible cast. We can’t wait to bring it to customers soon,” Joe Lewis, who heads Amazon Studios’ Comedy, Drama & VR department, said in a statement.
The show stars Rachel Brosnahan, Michael Zegen, Alex Borstein, Tony Shalhoub and Marin Hinkle.
