Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy spoke with MTV News at Star Wars Celebration about the future of the franchise, both as it relates to the Skywalker Saga, and as it relates to the “anthology films.” You can check out the full interview in the video above.

Kennedy dropped some interesting tidbits. Obviously, we know that The Last Jedi is Episode VIII and that Episode IX is in the works. But what about after that? Will this particular part of the story go on for more films? Will we continue to focus on Rey in the future? Kennedy says, “There’s no question that this is set up as a trilogy and that three-act structure of the set-up, the conflict, and the resolution very much is what we have planned.” So, Episode IX will definitely be the end of a trilogy.

As for beyond that, Kennedy and the Star Wars team are unsure. “I’m sure everybody would love for me to say, ’Oh yeah we’ve got this figured out for the next 20 years.’,” she says. “No, we spend a lot of time talking, debating, watching, looking at what connects with ourselves, with the audience, all of that is a part of our decision-making. We’re asking those questions right now. We’ll make a decision soon.”

Another decision we may hear about as soon as a couple of months from now is what the next anthology film will be after the Han Solo movie. MTV’s Josh Horowitz voices fan speculation about them doing an Obi-wan film. But while Kennedy can’t announce anything formally, she does say, “I think we’re getting close. My hope would be sometime around the summer. I never want to predict the creative process because it is its own thing, so we’re in the midst of those discussions right now.”

So, summer huh? That’s still a couple of months away. Whatever will we do between now and then? I know! Let’s have a looksee at the treasure trove of photos from the set of The Last Jedi posted by the director himself, Rian Johnson, on his Instagram:
