Finally, the marketing push for Black Panther is getting underway! This morning, Marvel Studios—along with proud star Chadwick Boseman—put out the first poster for the upcoming “phase 3” Marvel solo flick, but that’s not all we’re getting today. Later on tonight, we’ll get the movie’s first teaser trailer, as well!
Along with their tweets of the poster, Boseman and Marvel also mentioned that the teaser will pop up on TV tonight during game 4 of the NBA finals. For those outside the sports world, that’s tonight at 9PM on—you guessed it—Disney-owned ABC. Passable Photoshop aside, the poster is a fittingly in-control, regal look for the hero and ruler of Wakanda, who we first met (on the big screen, anyway) in Captain America: Civil War.
The wait for Black Panther to get his due has been long (and unfortunately delayed by yet-another-Spider-Man-movie), but we’re finally nearing the finish line with just around 8 months to go before the February 16, 2018 premiere, which is what makes today’s news so exciting. Even more than his appearance in Civil War, this finally makes T’Challa’s solo movie seem real. In the hands of Creed Director Ryan Coogler and with additional talent on board like Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong’o, our hopes are up pretty high for this movie.
It’s going to be a fun Friday night.
