We often joke about how much we’d like to watch the many, many movies we’ve seen imagined by fan trailers, but this is one that we’re truly disappointed isn’t a real thing. It’s not that we’d like the entire Batman movie franchise to be overtaken by an “it’s all in his head” premise—like the one in this mashup trailer—but just one, outside of any other movie canon, would make for a nice alternate universe “what if?” departure from the straightforward takes we usually get.
I mean, at least if we’re going to get Batman movies ad infinitum, it’d be a good way to break up their monotony. Comics do this kind of thing all the time, and movies have certainly been mirroring the way comics do things more and more. It probably won’t happen anytime soon, though, so we’ll have to make do with The Batman Complex trailer for now. At least we’re guaranteed not to wind up disappointed by a movie that doesn’t live up to the trailer?
The mashup, by YouTuber themanbatman, pulls footage from Christian Bale’s Batman movies (and others), his appearance in The Machinist, and some Leonardo DiCaprio movies (Inception, Shutter Island) for some extra material, tied in by Michael Caine in Inception, and more. We’ve seen this kind of fan trailer a lot, but this one—an update of an earlier version—is particularly seamless and well worth a watch. Enjoy!
