Kelly Marie Tran, who plays Rose Tico in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, dressed as a porg for Halloween, continuing to prove that she is too pure for this world. “WE SPENT 3 HOURS MAKING THESE COSTUMES AND WE HAVE PREVAILED AND I REGRET NOTHING!!!” reads her Instagram post. Tran previously designed her own custom John Boyega sweatshirt for Star Wars celebration.

• Over at SYFY Wire, Carli Velocci argues that Joyce Byers from Stranger Things is the greatest detective on TV right now. “[She] wowed audiences in the first season by going against the stereotypes we usually prescribe to the victim’s mother. She was proactive and open-minded…Now we’re into Stranger Things 2 and despite the passage of nearly a year, she’s still on the case. She’s the first to jump into action when stuff begins to go down, and thanks to what she learned last season, she’s even more prepared.”
• A lot of the scenes that gave Thor: Ragnarok its distinctive tone almost didn’t make it into the final film. Taika Waititi revealed that he was aiming for a 100-minute run time back during Comic-Con, but “decided to put a lot of the jokes back in.” Hooray! (via io9)

• Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton was reportedly unable to attend the second-season premiere, after he was turned away by U.S. immigration for trace amounts of cocaine in his luggage. It’s unclear how this might affect his work status for future seasons. (via Deadline)
• Papers, Please, the video game about an immigration officer dealing with his paperwork and ethical decisions, is being developed into a short film. (via Kotaku)
