Popular Broadway show and cultural phenomenon Hamilton has continued its reign by performing the show around the world, and with Hamildrops, which produced new Hamilton content every month from a Weird Al polka, a Ben Franklin song with The Decemberists, and more. The song this month isn’t only beautiful, it’s here for an amazing cause.
The Hamildrop for March is a duet called “Found Tonight” with Dear Evan Hansen‘s Ben Platt, bringing together two of the most popular leads of two of most popular musicals. The production, arrangement, and orchestration was done by Alex Lacamoire, and is a mashup of Hamilton‘s “The Story of Tonight” and Dear Evan Hansen‘s “You Will Be Found”. Try not to cry (cry anyway).

This isn’t the first time that Hamilton has used its platform to speak about gun violence. During the Tony Awards in 2016, the cast performed “Yorktown” without muskets as the event took place less than a day after the Pulse shooting, where 50 were killed at a gay nightclub on Latin night. Reading a sonnet for his Best Original Score award, Miranda said, “When senseless acts of tragedy remind us/that nothing here is promised/not one day.”
The song can be purchased now, and a portion of proceeds will go to March For Our Lives Initiative. The march takes place on March 24th to demand an end to gun violence and mass shootings.
