Letitia Wright Is the Only Part of the Avengers: Infinity War Press Tour I Care About

Usually, with Avengers movies and other giant tentpole huge-cast movies, we get a lot of press tour coverage. The casts are so big, and they have so many global markets to cover, the studios often divide them into teams to go promote the film. Right now, the cast is spread all over the world doing interviews. But when it comes to Infinity War, there’s really only one cast member we want to see, and it’s Letitia Wright.

Everything Wright has done on this press tour has been magic. Remember when Shuri met Peter Parker and the internet exploded? In these last few days leading up to the official premiere of Infinity War, she’s been all over the place. I don’t think there’s any way the film is going to give us as much Shuri as we’d like (mostly because we’d only be fully content with a movie comprised entirely of Shuri scenes), so we’re milking every minute out of every interview we can.

If there isn’t a decent amount of Shuri and Bucky interaction in this movie, I really don’t even see the point. I’m in love with this interview, with the two of them complimenting each other, discussing dance sequences, and going over the logistics of Bucky styling his hair with one arm. (I also love how terrified Wright is of accidentally leaking spoilers.)

This week, she also freestyled on The Late Show because she’s good at literally everything. Even when her freestyling is bad, it’s great. (Unlike Jimmy Fallon’s, who feels the need to come in with a prepared, rehearsed rap at the end. Ugh.)

But my favorite recent interview of hers is this one from Good Morning America. First of all, we get a fantastic clip from the film, with Shuri throwing super shade at Bruce Banner. (That’s at the 4:18 mark in this video, and we also wrote it up here.)

But what’s even more exciting than Shuri subtly insulting Banner’s intelligence is hearing Wright talk about what it means to her to play a character that’s such an inspiration to young kids. She’s talked about that impact before, but it never gets old, it never gets anything less than totally heartwarming. ABC even brought in a group of kids in cosplay to be in the audience of Wright’s interview, and it’s so beautiful to see.

At the end of the interview, Wright takes some questions from those kids, so be prepared to have your heart grow a few sizes. The trailers for Infinity War have been fairly Wakanda-heavy, just as the press tour has put Shuri at much of its center. Obviously, that makes sense, given the incredible success of Black Panther. Hopefully, Wakanda will have as big a presence in the movie itself.
