Snow White and the Huntsman May Be Getting A Sequel From The Guy Who Wrote Jurassic Park

Snow White and the Huntsman hasn’t hit theaters yet but like many movies these days, studios feel so confident about their product they’re willing to move ahead with a sequel before box office numbers are in. So is the case of highly-anticipated Snow White adaptation starring Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and Chris Hemsworth. They’ve already chosen a screenwriter and we’re not sure which is cooler, the fact that he wrote 2002’s Spider-Man, or the fact that he wrote Jurassic Park.

Deadline reports writer David Koepp is in discussions with Universal Pictures to pen the script for a second Snow White and the Huntsman film. They write, “The word is the studio hopes to fast track the project so that Huntsman helmer Rupert Sanders can make it the next project he directs.” And that’s huge news for Sanders. Huntsman was his first big directing gig. He previously done work in advertising and a few short films but Huntsman is the only thing he’s credited with on his IMDB page.

Koepp, on the other hand, has a well-stuffed resume. We’ve already mentioned Jurassic Park and Spider-Man, but he’s also done screenplays for The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Death Becomes Her, Mission Impossible, and Men In Black III. He also wrote Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull which we will choose to ignore considering his other work.

Star of the film Stewart told MTV she wasn’t sure about being involved with another franchise when she started work on the film but now says she’d love to do more Huntsman now. “I was so focused on the first one and I thought, ‘Maybe, maybe,’ but I’ve got stars in my eyes. I’m literally over the moon about what I’m doing right now,” she said.

The film hits theaters in the U.S. on June 1.
