One thing that is bringing me joy is learning more and more about the upcoming Birds of Prey movie. Not only is the cast delightful and the costume designs look fun, but I’m just hella excited to see one of my favorite franchise teams are going to be together on the big screen.

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn was one of the few redeemable parts of the Suicide Squad and so I’m glad that Robbie’s star power is being used in a way to be more inclusive.

Now we have some set pictures showing what we have to look forward to in the film.

It looks like our Harley Quinn is on the move because she’s getting kicked out. Now I say kicked out and not leaving on her own accord because of her pouty face and also because it would be a great nod to Harley and Ivy in Batman: The Animated Series where after getting kicked out of the Joker’s lair she ends up hooking up with Poison Ivy. I’m fine with Harley’s emancipation being a character development journey. That’s what it was in the comics, so why not the movie.

Also, Harley has a friend? A mysterious friend named Doc played by Dana Lee. More diversity? Heck yeah!

More looks at Ella Jay Basco who is so adorable hanging out with Harley and I can I say that whoever is behind the fashion for this movie I want to give them a high-five. I’ve loved all of Harley’s sparkly looks and fun clothes. Her shorts in this shot are so cute and they fit her showing off her legs, but also not looking as though she’s going to get an insta-weggie the moment she walks.

With this brighter look at Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s costume, we can see that there is some dark blue, possibly violet, accents on the costume which is a great touch and I’m looking forward to seeing it in action. I’m glad we have these photos to counter rumors that there is something wrong with the set. I will say, DC has done a good job with both this and Wonder Woman with knowing how to give people a taste to get them excited.

Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is scheduled to be released on Feb. 7, 2020. I hope the next set of pictures has more Rosie Perez. What do you all think?
