International Women’s Day struck BBC America as a fitting time to drop the delicious trailer for season 2 of Killing Eve.
Quoth the Beeb, on why this day of all days sees the season 2 trailer’s debut:
Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer and Fiona Shaw return to star in the second season of the hit series which has been created, developed, produced, directed, and written by enormously talented women.
The wildly enthusiastic quotes from critics peppered throughout this sleek trailer are just about an exact replica of the conversations I have with friends who are obsessed with Killing Eve. The always-marvelous Sandra Oh won a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Eve Polastri, the MI6 agent who becomes as obsessed as my Killing Eve-watching friends with Jodie Comer’s murderous Villanelle. (The feeling is mutual.)
If you’re just catching up, here’s a synopsis:
Killing Eve is the story of two women, bound by a mutual obsession and one brutal act: Eve, an MI6 operative, and Villanelle, the beautiful, psychopathic assassin that she has been tasked to find. Season Two begins 30 seconds after the final episode of the first season; Eve is reeling and Villanelle has disappeared. Eve has no idea if the woman she stabbed is alive or dead, and now both of them are in deep trouble. Eve has to find Villanelle before someone else does, but unfortunately, she’s not the only person looking for her.
Although the second season will be without original show writer and producer Phoebe Waller-Bridge (that’s L3-37 to you), we still have faith that the show will stay excellent, beautiful, and bizarre.
Season two of Killing Eve premieres Sunday, April 7 at 8pm/7c on AMC and BBC America.
