The first trailer for the Dora the Explorer live-action film has landed and it looks … about what we expected. The film, Dora and the Lost City of Gold stars Isabela Moner as the title character, a reckless teen who lives in the jungle with her explorer parents Michael Peña and Eva Longoria. As her parents set out to find the fabled lost city of gold, Dora is sent to the city to live with her cousin Diego and his family.

We see Dora struggle to adjust to city life, before she and her friends are sent to the jungle to rescue her parents with the help of their goofy co-worker Eugenio Derbez. The trailer plays like a combination of Spy Kids, Legends of the Hidden Temple, and tween version of Tomb Raider. Also, why is Boots not wearing Boots? And where’s Map? It all seems pretty typical for a live-action kids film, but it is directed by James Bobin, who gave us 2011’s delightful reboot of The Muppets.

The film seems too mature for the television show’s target age range, and it will be interesting to see if kids who grew up on Dora the Explorer will feel any nostalgia for the franchise now that they’ve aged out. Either way, girls can always use more female-centered stories, especially starring people of color. Oh, and did we mention that Danny Trejo and Benicio del Toro appear in the film?

Dora and the Lost City of Gold hits theaters in August.
