Things We Saw Today: A Terribly Mean Tweet About AOC’s Boyfriend Gets the Absurdist Meme Treatment

Oh brother. When a “blatantly mean tweet” about Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s boyfriend started to make the rounds on Twitter, supporters of the Congresswoman came to the couple’s defense. In the manner of our modern-day Internet, many decided to take it upon themselves to point out just how mean it was in the only way Twitter knows how: memes.

Using the original quote and a slew of fictional characters, a new Twitter trend was born, and I’m both angry Rocket Raccoon was included and happy to see Twitter calling out the unnecessary cruelty of the original tweet.
