The art history geek I forgot was hidden in my brain kind of really loves this. Last year it was artist Megan Lara‘s Art Nouveau illustrations of Firefly characters; this time it’s her take on the complex female characters of Battlestar Galactica through the lens of notable artists. And she even cut all the corners off!

The homages are actually a line of licensed posters. The image at left is Six in the style of Roy Lichtenstein. Click through to see the rest.

Starbuck in the style of Tamara de Lempicka…

Gustav Klimt-style Athena and Hera…

Captain Six à la John Singer Sargent’s portrait of Madame X [or Head Six, as the Editor and her BSG buddy called her]…

Laura Roslin in an homage to William-Adophe Bouguereau…

All except the Six-in-Lichtenstein will be available as a set from Quantum Mechanix. The Lichtensteing-style Six will be available exclusively at Comic-con.
