Not only does Patrick Priebe‘s DIY pulse laser gun look the part, but it gets the job done: Powered by four lithium ion cells, it can shoot small holes through balloons, plastic, thin metal, and Styrofoam. A four-second charge of its capacitors allows a one megawatt blast of 1064nm infrared light.
Patrick is currently taking orders to build suchlike guns for other people, but considering that this gun took 70 hours to make and has stirred up a lot of interest on the Internet, it may be a long while before you get yours.
