Christopher Lloyd in 'Back to the Future'

Christopher Lloyd Joins ‘The Mandalorian’ in Season 3

It's your kids, Mando! Something's gotta be done about your kids!

Beloved character actor Christopher Lloyd is swapping out his DeLorean for a starfighter. The Back to the Future star will join the cast of The Mandalorian in season 3. Lloyd’s role is being kept tightly under wraps, but he is expected to join the third season (which is currently filming in southern California) in a guest star capacity. The Mandalorian has recruited several exciting guest stars, from Nick Nolte to Werner Herzog to Amy Sedaris to Michael Biehn.

Lloyd is best known for his iconic role as Dr. Emmett Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy (1985-1990). But he has a rich legacy in science fiction and fantasy outside of BTTF. He played the villainous Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988) and Klingon Commander Kruge in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984). Other iconic roles include Professor Plum in Clue (1985) and Uncle Fester in The Addams Family (1991) and its sequel Addams Family Values (1993). At 83, Lloyd continues his prolific work, most recently appearing in George Clooney’s The Tender Bar.

Little is known about the plot of season 3 of The Mandalorian, but fans got a taste of what to expect from The Book of Boba Fett. The spinoff series spent nearly half its runtime on Mando struggling to move on after Luke Skywalker takes Grogu away for Jedi training. Mando then fashions a chain mail Beskar shirt for his adopted son and delivers it to Ahsoka Tano. Luke then presents Grogu with two paths: choose the shirt and return to Mando, or pick up the lightsaber and continue his Jedi training. The galaxy’s favorite little nugget chooses the shirt, and rejoins Mando for more adventures. After all, you didn’t think The Mandalorian was going to dispatch its most popular (and merchandisable) character did you? Season three will no doubt find Grogu and Mando together again, taking on the Empire.

There’s no release date yet for season 3, but we look forward to seeing Lloyd as a quirky bantha trainer or moisture farmer.
