Give me Reigen, and give me Reigen NOW

The fall 2022 anime season is shaping up to be potentially one of the best in the genre’s history. There’s Chainsaw Man and the first new Bleach season in a decade — and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. But, if you’re me, one of the most anticipated anime of the Fall block is the long-awaited third season of Mob Psycho 100. Season three was officially revealed in October 2021, about two years’ after the second season wrapped up. When should you expect to be glued to your television, sipping green tea and messily eating takoyaki?

Mob Psycho 100 season 3 release date and times

Mob Psycho 100 season 3 releases on October 5, 2022 on Crunchyroll, following the screening of the first two episodes at Crunchyroll Expo. This date is in Japan-time, but considering it’s a Wednesday, that probably means the simulcast will pop up on Wednesday mornings, US and Canada-time. In May 2022, the third season of Mob Psycho 100 was officially added to the fall block. This means BONES’ fall is going to be epic indeed. The Mob Psycho 100 season 3 release times are:

  • 9:30 AM PT in Pacific Time Zones
  • 11:30 AM CT in Central Time Zones
  • 12:30 PM ET in Eastern Time Zones
  • 5:30PM BST in British Time Zones
  • 6:30 PM CEST in European Time Zones
  • 10:00 PM IST in Indian Time Zones

Additionally, after its premiere at Anime Expo, the opening sequence for Mob Psycho 100‘s third season has finally debuted online. Watch it below and weep. (I talk about my feelings on the OP more over here, if you’re curious.)

Mob Psycho 100‘s third season has been highly anticipated since the second season ended in 2019. Many guessed that a third season would eventually come, since there is some manga left uncovered. However, season two ended in such a nice, broccoli-shaped bow that many – including myself – were concerned the show was over. (The fact that there was an OVA helped to placate that concern, though.) Still, given how much of the manga remains, it’s likely that season three will be Mob Psycho 100‘s final season.

Mob Psycho 100‘s studio, Bones, is also behind My Hero Academia. And My Hero has a new season airing in the fall. Given that My Hero Academia is a very big deal, I sort of expected the studio’s resources and human beings to be preoccupied. happen in both winter and spring 2021, but the pandemic was also notorious for messing up release schedules. But departmentalization is a mighty thing.

So if I’m right about My Hero Academia diverting some resources away from Mob Psycho 100, we are probably looking at a 2023 release date. Season two aired as part of 2019’s winter season, so it’s possible we could get season three around the four-year anniversary of that release. Side note: what is happening with time?

Mangaka ONE’s other series, One Punch Man, is now also getting a third season. Will it be even close to as good as Mob’s? In the words of my golden boy, Reigen Arataka: no comment.
