Here’s Everything We Know About ‘She-Hulk’s Official Release

Among the many series that were announced as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “expansion” on Disney Plus, one of the most exciting had to be She-Hulk—which had fans buzzing the minute the news broke.

The series boasts an enviable cast, including Tatiana Maslany, of Orphan Black fame, who plays the titular role of Jennifer Walters, also known as She-Hulk. Walters is a lawyer who specializes in cases that include superhumans. She’s also Bruce Banner’s cousin, and Mark Ruffalo is returning to the green CGI skin of Hulk for the show. Tim Roth, Jameela Jamil, Renée Elise Goldsberry, and Josh Sagarra complete the rest of the show’s main cast. It’s rumored that Meghan Thee Stallion will also make an appearance with a mini cameo where she plays herself.

But the question is—when are we going to see She-Hulk? The release date is still set for 2022, but we’re halfway through the year now! Many fans believed that She-Hulk was going to be the next Marvel product to premiere after Moon Knight—since its production wrapped in 2021—but that slot has already been taken by Ms. Marvel, whose summer release date was announced this past March.

So, why the delay?

The decision to premiere She-Hulk sometime after Ms. Marvel is somewhat less confusing when one considers that Maslany’s She-Hulk form will be completely CGI, much like Ruffalo’s Hulk. That means massive post-production times—since it will not only be Maslany’s She-Hulk that will need all those visual effects. Ruffalo will return, with again, CGI, and Tim Roth’s Abomination will probably require VFX as well. So, it makes sense that Disney Plus would fill its scheduling gap with a series whose post-production times are relatively contained.

And to find the answer to when we will be able to see She-Hulk on our screens, let’s take a look at what Disney Plus has lined up. It usually goes one Marvel show, then one Star Wars show—Moon Knight is currently streaming, and Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres at the end of May. Then it’s Ms Marvel’s turn, and then it will probably be time for the premiere of Andor. This means that She-Hulk could fit in perfectly between Andor and The Mandalorian—landing on a late fall release date. Not as early as we’d all hoped, for sure, but still not too far away either.
