With each passing week, fans of the Moon Knight comics have been patiently waiting for the reveal of Marc Spector’s other alter: Jake Lockley. After episode 3, “The Friendly Type,” it seemed as if we’d get to see Jake sooner rather than later, as Marc Spector took back control of their body and discovered a bloody mess left behind. He asks Steven “What did you do?” and is met with a frantic Steven Grant saying that it wasn’t him, so the two are both dealing with the reveal of a third.
The problem now is that we still haven’t met Jake Lockley. Well, sort of.
**Spoilers for Moon Knight episode 4 “The Tomb” lie ahead.**
In episode 4, “The Tomb,” this week, there are a lot of things happening all at once, and while Steven Grant and Marc Spector find themselves as they’re running to figure out how to get out of the asylum they woke up in after having been shot by Arthur Harrow, the two walk by a room with a moving sarcophagus much like the one that Marc found Steven in.
Obviously, fans have assumed that it means that Jake Lockley is there and the two just haven’t realized it yet.
Jake Lockley, in the comics, is a cab driver from New York and typically the alter who gets information for them. He’s the detective, but the series seems to have him as someone who is more inclined to violence. It could have just been in that instance, but it is, so far, the only thing we’ve seen from Jake.
A hilarious twist would be for Jake to be the middle ground between Steven and Marc in terms of violence, but the battle he fronted during might have just been a defensive move, and we’re thinking he’s going to be different from the Jake we know.
All of this speculation, though, has left us with a need to see Jake Lockley either way. He’s been teased twice now, to the point where we know he’s there. He’s moving the sarcophagus, and both Marc and Steven are there together, so why wouldn’t it be Jake?
But still, we’re waiting to see if he gets let out and we get to meet him.
Honestly, right on time, too. There needs to be someone who can investigate and figure out what’s going on, and who better than Jake Lockley, the detective? With Steven knowing all about Egypt and its history and Marc being a trained mercenary, it is only fitting to have Jake show up after the reveal of “The Tomb” and the three work together to figure out how to get Khonshu back and stop Harrow.
We still just need to see Jake first, though.
If anything, the next episode most likely has Jake in it, right? It’d make the most sense, given everything that has been hinted to in the last two episodes (granted it isn’t much, but it does bring Jake to mind). But until we get to see the last two episodes of Moon Knight, fans are just going to keep hoping and wondering where Jake Lockley is.
