Michael Caine Took One Look at What Was Happening on Twitter and Said “No Thanks” And Twitter Loved It

Sir Michael Caine is an actor who has been in classics like Miss Congeniality, The Muppet Christmas Carol, and beyond, so many fans love to go to his absolutely chaotic Twitter account. So it’s nice to know that in the midst of the trash fire that was Twitter on April 25th (a perfect date)—when Elon Musk bought the app, Lea Michele gave us too much information about herself, Misha Collins came out as heterosexual, and the reviews for Funny Girl dropped—Michael Caine was just casually enjoying his day.

While the rest of us were trying to figure out what in the 2008 was happening, Caine broke his three-month silence with a “Hello” tweet, followed up ten minutes later with a “Good Night My Sweet Ones” message.

Given the day we’d all had on Twitter, it isn’t that surprising that everyone instantly loved the fact that Michael Caine, one of the stars of the Christopher Nolan The Dark Knight franchise, lasted less than ten whole minutes before vanishing back into his life without a second thought.

His Twitter account is often that of what’d you’d expect from an older actor on social media, meaning it’s just random messages with pictures of him in a golf cart or things like this when he says hello and bye in ten minutes without anything in between.

There were some … odd responses to Caine’s “Hello/Goodbye” moment, like thinking it was a declaration of support for Elon Musk, or that he was commenting on anything at all, when in reality, I think he just … tweeted and then said “Time for bed.” But it has also led to great ideas.

Like the idea that Michael Caine will defeat Elon Musk and embody the Batman of it all and actually become Alfred Pennyworth.

Wholesome Twitter

The reason things like Michael Caine’s Twitter account go viral is because they’re the one wholesome thing in a sea of bad stuff happening on the bird app. So, an actor who has been around for decades logging on and instantly logging back off is … well, hilarious.

Do I think that Michael Caine had any idea of what was going on on Twitter? No, but it is just impeccable timing, so we now all have the thrilling ten minutes on Twitter when Michael Caine announced he was back and then quickly left again. Can’t wait until July, when Michael Caine tweets “Bonjour” and then “Sleep Tight” within five minutes.
