The chokehold that A Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) and Coraline (2009) still have on pop culture is strong. If Henry Selick never did anything again, he’d still be remembered. Folks still cherish stop-motion animated films because they’re truly something else. And this style of filmmaking isn’t a regular occurrence. Which is why it’s special when a new one comes out—especially in the fantasy or horror spaces. And with Wendell & Wild (2022) centering around a Black protagonist and having a loaded cast, we’re in for a real treat. Plus any horror that involves Jordan Peele is bound to be good. Yes, I’m a major fan.

Horror comedies can be hit or miss. Though, with Jordan Peele being a co-screenwriter and a comedian, we know exactly what we’re going to get. Having a Black lead in a film like this is major as well. And the plot is pretty original when it all boils down.
