Last night saw Halloween Week take over the Bake Off tent, featuring spooky bakes like an apple cake in the Signature, American smores for the Technical, and a challenging piñata as the Showstopper.
Syabira was won herself a handshake, first place in the Technical, and the coveted title of Star Baker for her Halloween-themed bakes, including an incredible “Itsy Bitsy Spider” piñata. She was complimented on her excellent flavour combinations and judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith had very little to criticise on all three of her bakes.
Of course, there can only be on Star Baker and there must also be one baker to leave the tent. Here’s who Paul and Prue decided to send home at the halfway point of The Great British Bake Off 2022.
Who Left Bake Off This Week?
After being in hot water last week, it was time for Dawn to say goodbye to the other bakers and the Bake Off Tent. Her hanging Showstopper didn’t last long when hung up and the judges were left unimpressed with her flavours, saying that some of her biscuits had no flavour whatsoever.
Dawn was still in good spirits when leaving the tent, saying: “I love Halloween and at home we tend to really go for it, so my leaving in that week won’t put me off! I always do lots of bakes for the local children and I always try and bake something cool for them, and of course this year it will have added meaning.
“The kids won’t know who I am but the mums and dads will know who I am because it’s a small place where we live, so I think we will have quite a few children come knocking this Halloween.”
What Is The Great British Bake Off Theme Next Week?
Next week will be Custard Week, with the teaser showing how the bakers will be expected to cook, freeze, and decorate various forms of custard across the three bakes.
The Great British Bake Off airs on Channel 4 on Tuesdays at 8pm.
